Early spice grinding mortar from Asia. It is a common form that made its way into Africa with a wax stamp that shows that it was imported and sold when old. The west markets fell in love with decorating with this type of piece post WWII.  It is a nice piece that shows true signs of wear . This piece weighs 84 pounds alone and is very solid!!
