Early European Peg Constructed Rustic Oak Armoire
Early 19th century French Armoire is a prime example of one of the most important historical developments in the world of furniture. Back before the days of closets in every room, the armoire provided needed storage, and provided it in style! This example features a stately architecture with an elegantly flared crown molding situated atop the bonnet, which was left unadorned in order to direct attention two the fine yet restrained, beautifully designed doors. Two external barrel hinges hang each door, complemented by finely detailed key guards. Pegged mortise & tenon joinery was used throughout the design, even on the back with its rough hand-hewn solid planks. This piece has more than ample space and a heavy , original bar within on the original hangers waiting to hold your favorite outfits. Circa 1820s
